WHO WE ARE:
Girls Revolution is a group of empowered female students in grades 6th-8th at Clinton Middle School. We are friends, scholars, social justice warriors, goofballs, lovers of hot cheetos, and most importantly change agents in the making! This is our second year participating in Girls Build LA, and we are super excited! This year we decided to focus on, homelessness/at risk of being homeless. We meet every week (but honestly sometimes more than that) in order to plan events and work on how we can help strengthen our community. There are 10 of us in our team, and we work with our three amazing coordinators/mentors, Ms. Vanessa, Ms. Monique, and Ms. Andrea (check out our "meet the team" page to learn more about them and us). We are interested in collaborating with other GBLA teams, as well as community members, organizations, volunteers and other change agents!
MISSION STATEMENT:
We are committed to fostering a love of community through civic engagement on issues that impact one of the most vulnerable populations - homelessness/at risk of being homeless. We aim to strengthen our community by focusing on social advocacy, volunteerism, and spreading education on policies and laws that affect the day to day lives of individuals. We will no longer normalize the barriers that so often obstruct progress for our communities, but instead hope to empower individuals to join us in working toward solutions for themselves, their families and future generations.

Final Video Presentation
Learn why we chose to focus on civic engagement this year and why it was important for us to support the homeless/at risk of being homeless population. We spent the year coming up with ideas/plans on how to best impact our community. Throughout the school year we held in classroom presentations, and lunch time events to provide education/awareness on issues that impact our homeless population. We also held two school wide drives, one for canned food items and the other for baby hygiene products. All items collected were donated to individuals in need. To end our project we were able to advocate to councilmembers at City Hall. We hope you enjoy our journey and that we motivate others to get involved in their communities. Thank you and see you next year!
